History of the Morgans of Tredegar Park
The Barony was created on 15 November 1792.
Charles Gould, born 1726, took the name Morgan. He was knighted in 1779 and created a baronet on 15 November 1792. He died
in 1806. His son Sir Charles Gould Morgan inherited the Barony.
Sir Charles Morgan Robinson Gould, later Morgan, born 1792 became the 1st Lord Tredegar. He died 1875 - his widow Rosamond(Mundy)survived
him....she died at Tredegar Park in 1883 aged 73.
Godfrey Charles Morgan 1831 -1913 - 2nd Lord Tredegar born at Ruperra Castle, Cardiff - Ist Lord Tredegar and Rosamond
were his parents.
Colonel the Hon Frederick Courtenay Morgan 1834 -1909 - brother of Sir Charles Morgan the 1st Lord Tredegar.
He was born in Brighton.
Courtenay Charles Evan Morgan 3rd Lord Tredegar 1867-1934 Gwyneth's father. Gwyneth had one brother Hon. Evan Frederic
Morgan 1893-1949. Evan became heir to the title of Viscount Tredegar in 1934.
The last Viscount Tredegar, Hon John Morgan was born 1908 he died in 1962.
Tredegar House, the home of the Morgans of Tredegar Park, Monmouthshire, now Gwent, South Wales is now owned by Newport
City Council.
Ruperra Castle, near Cardiff, also has links to the Morgan family.
